The Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) is an official initiative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, established under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Our Origin

The Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) is an official initiative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, established under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Born out of a powerful vision — that Nigerians living abroad carry with them an immense wealth of knowledge, skills, and expertise that can be channeled toward the transformation of their homeland — NIDO was created to turn that vision into reality.

What We Do

NIDO serves as a vital bridge between Nigerians in the diaspora and the Federal Government of Nigeria. We facilitate meaningful engagement across critical sectors, including:

  • 🏥 Healthcare — Supporting medical outreach, health policy advisory, and capacity building

  • 🎓 Education — Promoting knowledge transfer, scholarships, and academic partnerships

  • 💻 Technology & Innovation — Driving digital transformation and tech investment in Nigeria

  • 🌾 Agriculture — Encouraging diaspora investment in Nigeria's agricultural sector

  • 🤝 Cultural Diplomacy — Strengthening Nigeria's global image and fostering national pride abroad.

Our Core Values

Our Reach

The Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) is an official initiative of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, established under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Born out of a powerful vision — that Nigerians living abroad carry with them an immense wealth of knowledge, skills, and expertise that can be channeled toward the transformation of their homeland — NIDO was created to turn that vision into reality.

Why NIDOE-NL Matters

In 2001, the Nigerian Government, through its Embassies and High Commissions around the world, took a bold step to mobilize the Nigerian diaspora. Recognizing that millions of Nigerians abroad were excelling in fields ranging from medicine and engineering to finance, technology, and academia, the government set out to create a structured, independent platform through which these professionals could actively contribute to Nigeria's socio-economic growth.

The result was NIDO — a non-partisan, non-governmental organization built on the belief that national development is a shared responsibility, regardless of where a Nigerian calls home.

Our Mission & Vision in The Netherlands

Building a Professional Network We connect Nigerian professionals living and working in the Netherlands, creating pathways for collaboration, mentorship, and meaningful contribution to Nigeria's development.
